You will not find a single sad, wilted leaf of lettuce on any of these Inglewood burgers, and that is precisely the point. From the soul-warming oxtail gravy at Dulan’s to the surprisingly crisp vegan patty at Don Lee Farms, this stretch of Manchester Boulevard is a carnivore’s democracy.

I have personally watched a cook at Melo’s smash a patty at midnight after a Laker game, then zipped over to Rocker Bros. for a dry-aged cut that could make a steakhouse blush.

One bite here, a completely different animal there. So, forget the drive-thru on Century and start your own low-and-slow crawl through the city’s most honest burger counter.

Mr Fries Man has a reputation that precedes it, but my visit left me scratching my head more than licking my fingers. The fries arrived with a sad, greasy sheen, and some were downright overcooked to the point of crunching like stale crackers. My burger's cheese sat there, unmelted and indifferent, while the sauce tasted flat and uninspired. For what they charge, the portions felt stingy, leaving me hungry enough to consider a second stop elsewhere. I wanted to love this place, given the buzz, but the execution simply did not match the hype. Perhaps I caught them on an off day, but consistency matters, and today they missed the mark entirely. A humble suggestion: check your order before you leave, because what you get might not be what you dreamed of.

Big, plain, meaty burgers
Excellent, generous portions
Great late-night drive-thru
Friendly, helpful service

There is something beautifully unpretentious about Melo Burger, and that is exactly why it works. I rolled up late on a Friday night, craving something hearty, and their drive-thru was quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly. The burger was big, plain, and meaty, just as advertised, with a juicy patty that didn't need fancy toppings to shine. The portion was generous, and the fries were crispy without being oily. The staff treated me like a regular even though it was my first time, which is rare in this city. If you want a no-nonsense, satisfying burger after hours, Melo is your spot. It reminds me of the neighborhood joints from my childhood, and that is a compliment of the highest order.

Nice interior design

Tom's Watch Bar in Inglewood caught my eye thanks to its sleek interior, and I decided to give it a shot after a long day. The bartender was a genuine pro, mixing drinks with a smile and offering thoughtful recommendations. I opted for the grilled chicken salad, which was surprisingly delicious, with fresh greens and a tangy dressing that lifted my spirits. The space itself is comfortable and modern, with plenty of seating and a lively but not overwhelming atmosphere. Being right near the hotel I was staying at made it incredibly convenient for a solo dinner. I cannot speak to their burgers since I did not order one, but if the salad is any indication, they know what they are doing in the kitchen. I'll certainly return to try the full menu.

Tortugo Brewing Company feels like a small-town gem dropped into the middle of the city, and I mean that in the best way. The staff are warm and genuinely enthusiastic about beer, guiding me through their selection with patience and knowledge. They had a fantastic range of West Coast IPAs, each one hoppy and refreshing in its own right. The brewery exudes a cozy, unpretentious vibe, with communal tables and a laid-back crowd. The WiFi was strong, which made it easy to work for a few hours, and the prices were fair for the quality. They even host daily popups, so there is always something new to try, and parking was a breeze. If you are a beer lover looking for a no-stress hangout, this is your place. Highlights
Photos deceive; burgers disappoint
Fair combo pricing
Well-cooked, unseasoned fries
Canned soda a delight
Not recommended for burgers

Durango Burger #2 let me down, and I say that with a heavy heart because the photos advertising their burgers are genuinely mouthwatering. Unfortunately, the reality did not match the imagery, the patty was dry and lacked seasoning, and the bun fell apart before I could take a proper bite. The fries were cooked well, crisp and golden, but they were so underseasoned they tasted like cardboard. On the plus side, the combo pricing was fair, and the canned soda was ice-cold, which was a small comfort. I would call this place acceptable in a pinch, but I would not go out of my way for it. The service was polite enough, but the food simply did not deliver. A little salt and attention to detail could go a long way here.

Best burger joint in SoCal

Oh My Burger, and oh my, did they live up to their name. I walked in skeptical but left utterly impressed by the Big Homie, a burger that packs a serious punch with bold, smoky flavors and a perfectly toasted bun. What really stole the show, though, was the peach cobbler shake, creamy, sweet, and comforting in a way I did not expect from a burger joint. They even have a breakfast burger with pancake buns that sounds wild but works beautifully, sweet and savory all at once. The service was impeccable, and the place was spotless. I genuinely believe this is the best burger joint in SoCal, and I have eaten at many. If you only try one place on this list, make it this one. You will not regret it.

Don Lee Farms

Handmade tacos with rich history
Crispy when cooked past instructions
Tastes like Jack-in-the-Box favorites
Beloved vegan patties, hard to find
Superior to other meatless options

Don Lee Farms surprised me with their handmade tacos, which carry a rich history and a homemade quality that fast-food chains cannot replicate. Each taco was stuffed generously with seasoned filling, and the tortillas were warm and soft. What impressed me most was their vegan patty option, which, when cooked just right, tasted remarkably like a classic burger, crispy on the edges and juicy inside. They even remind me of Jack-in-the-Box favorites, but with a cleaner, more artisanal feel. These vegan patties are hard to find elsewhere, and they are superior to other meatless options I have tried. The staff were helpful in explaining the menu. It is a great spot for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. I will definitely swing by again.

They also had a live DJ spinning sets, creating a vibrant but not overwhelming atmosphere that made the evening feel special. The chef came out to greet me, and the hostess was warm and welcoming from the start. Despite the drive, I would absolutely make the trip again because the experience felt unique and memorable.
