I have opinions about Long Beach fast food, and they are mostly wrong. You want a burrito near the aquarium without circling for parking?

I found one. Then there's the black-bun Ozzy burger by the bay, which sounds like a gimmick and absolutely is not.

This list runs from plant-based acai bowls that demand patience to a proper chopped cheese worth crossing the neighborhood for. I ate too fast at Sonoratown and got buffalo sauce on my shirt at Grill 'Em All.

No regrets. Here’s where to eat when you want it quick.

Highlights
Burrito worth the trip
Fresh, homemade-style ingredients
Quick, friendly counter service
Great near-aquarium location
Free parking nearby bonus

I walked in skeptical. I left a believer. Sonoratown makes a burrito that justifies the trip. The tortilla is fresh. The fillings taste homemade, like someone's abuela actually runs the kitchen. The counter staff is quick and friendly. The location near the aquarium is a blessing. Free parking nearby? That's rare enough to mention twice. Nothing fancy. Just honest, warm food that sticks to your ribs. I ate too fast. I regretted nothing. If you need one meal before the penguins, make it this one. My only complaint: I now measure every burrito against this one. That's a high bar to live under.

Great service from Eric
Homemade sauces and ketchup
Delicious Tavern Burger
Cool, welcoming atmosphere
Refreshing custom cocktails

The Ordinarie Tavern is anything but ordinary, despite the name. Eric greeted me like I'd been coming for years. The homemade sauces and ketchup show effort. The Tavern Burger is the real star. Juicy, messy, perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere is cool without trying too hard. Custom cocktails refresh without pretension. I sat at the bar, said little, ate a lot. That's my version of a perfect afternoon. The ketchup alone deserves an award. It's thick, tangy, and clearly made with care. I left full, content, and slightly embarrassed by how quickly I finished. Go see Eric. He'll take care of you.

Kin long beach kitchen surprised me. The staff is exceptional. Genuinely service-oriented. They asked about spice levels. They remembered my name. The interior is clean and modern. Date-worthy, even. I sat down, ordered, and had food on the table faster than I expected. Made-to-order means fresh. You taste it in every bite. The dishes are flavorful without being heavy. I got mine mild. Next time, medium. The efficiency didn't feel rushed. It felt respectful. My only regret is not bringing someone to share. But more for me. That's fine too. If you want a spot that cares, this is it.

Ozzy Osbourne burger, black bun

Friendly staff, first-timer courtesy
Second-level seating, bay views

Grill 'Em All sits by the beach. Limited parking. Be prepared for that. I squeezed into a spot and climbed the stairs. Second-level seating gives you bay views. That's a nice touch. The Ozzy Osbourne burger has a black bun. Sounds gimmicky. It's not. The bun is soft, the patty is solid. The High on Fries arrived drenched in buffalo sauce. Messy. Perfect. The staff was friendly, especially for a first-timer. They explained the menu without making me feel dumb. I ate with my hands. I got sauce on my shirt. I didn't care. This is the kind of place you visit on vacation and pretend you live here.

Awesome arcade atmosphere
Great craft beer selection
Incredible cheesy garlic knots
Worth the visit alone

The 4th Horseman is not your typical pizza joint. It's a mashup of arcade, movie house, and restaurant. I came for pizza. I stayed for the garlic knots. Those knots are incredible. Cheesy, garlicky, worth the visit alone. The arcade atmosphere is loud and fun. Craft beer selection is solid. I beat a kid at Pac-Man. He didn't seem sad. I ordered a slice after that. The pizza held up. Not the best in the city, but the vibe makes up for it. If you're looking for a quiet meal, go elsewhere. If you want entertainment with your pepperoni, this is your spot.

Reliable manager and workers

WaBa Grill is my reliable stop. Not flashy. Just efficient. I ordered the beef bowl. Accurate orders. Strict diet friendly. The beef outshines the chicken and the salmon. It's seasoned well and cooked properly. The price is fair. The service is fast. The manager and workers are dependable. I've been here multiple times. Never a mix-up. That consistency matters. Sometimes you need healthy food done right. This is that place. I left feeling full but not weighed down. My only complaint: I wish the portions were bigger. But then I'd probably eat too much. So maybe it's a blessing.

Fresh sashimi, buttery texture
Prompt, courteous service
Ideal for large groups

Sushi Mafia lives up to the hype. The Gentleman Roll steals the show. It's generous, balanced, and fresh. I ordered the chicken katsu too. Perfectly crispy. Not a hint of sogginess. The sashimi was buttery. It melted on the tongue. Service was prompt and courteous. They noticed I was alone and checked on me just enough. The space is good for large groups. I saw a birthday party in the corner. They looked happy. I ate quietly, watched people, felt content. This isn't a cheap meal. But it's worth the price. Quality like this doesn't happen by accident. I'll be back for that roll.

Great tasting fried chicken
Freshness noticeably better

Cluck & Blaze fried my chicken to order. That means waiting. Not long, but you wait. It's worth it. The chicken arrives piping hot. The crust is crispy, the meat is juicy. Freshness makes a difference. You can taste it. I ordered the classic combo. Nothing fancy. Just good fried chicken. The staff knew I was a first-timer. They were patient. The short wait allowed me to enjoy the moment. I ate out on the patio. The noise of the street didn't bother me. I just focused on the bird. If you want fast but not greasy, this is your place. I left satisfied. No regrets.

Safe, consistent dining experience

Cinco de Mayo Restaurant is my safe pick. Not trendy. Not flashy. Just reliable. The chicken enchiladas came out hot. Delicious, actually. The sauce has a gentle kick. The rice and beans were fine. Nothing mind-blowing. But consistent. That's what I need sometimes. They have their own parking lot. That's a luxury in Long Beach. It's quiet inside. Good for conversation. I read a book while eating. Nobody bothered me. The price is affordable. I've been here three times. Same quality every time. That's rare. If you want a dependable meal without surprises, this is it. I appreciate the steadiness.

Higher Taste, Plant-Based doesn't rush. The acai bowls are layered beautifully. Each spoonful has something different. The staff is friendly and helpful. They answered my questions without rolling their eyes. The soul food is made from scratch. You can tell. It's hearty, flavorful, and surprisingly satisfying. The vibe is chill. I waited a little longer than usual. I didn't mind. Good food takes time. That's what I told myself. And it was true. The bowl was worth every patient minute. If you're skeptical about plant-based food, start here. I'm not fully converted. But I'm more curious now. That's a win.

NYC Chop Cheese does the thing right. No frills. Just a proper chopped cheese. The bread holds up. The meat is savory and melted just enough. The cashier was memorable. Friendly, patient, genuinely nice. That interaction stuck with me longer than the sandwich. Fries, curly fries, onion rings. All solid. I crossed a neighborhood I usually avoid. Worth it. I told myself I'd just try it once. I'm already planning my return. First-timers become regulars. That's not a marketing line. That's just what happens. Worth the long wait
Simple order, big flavor

Dave's Hot Chicken made me wait. Long wait. I stood there, stomach growling, wondering if it was worth it. Jessicaa didn't let me down. Her service was legendary. She kept things moving. She checked on everyone. The chicken bites came out juicy, tender, almost absurdly so. The tangy-savory sauce paired perfectly. Simple order. Big flavor. I didn't need sides. I didn't need dessert. Just the chicken and that sauce. The wait faded once I bit in. I'd do it again. I will do it again. If you have patience, you'll have dinner. If you don't, Jessicaa will still make you smile.
