I have a problem. I order too much at taqueriasches.

I have no shame about it. Norwalk has a habit of rewarding that behavior.

You want a gut-busting monster burrito at Mariscos El Chilito #6. You want Oaxaca's chilacayota or a house-made tortilla at La Cocina De Nely Preciado.

It’s a taco-town, no doubt. The range here runs from proper sit-down seafood spots to counter joints where the horchata is the best thing on the menu.

I’ve got the indigestion to prove it. Here are the places worth your appetite.

Authentic Mexican food
Great beer selection
Friendly welcoming staff
Fun live music
Kids eat free weekdays

I walked into Oaxaca Village expecting a quiet lunch. I left two hours later, having eaten too much and sung along to something I can't name. The beer list surprised me. Cold, varied, and well-chosen. The staff treated my kids like regulars, not annoyances. That alone wins points. The food is authentically Mexican, the kind that makes you slow down. Live music filled the room, loud but not overwhelming. Weekdays, kids eat free. That's dangerous for my wallet. I mean that as a compliment. I'll be back. Probably soon.

Exciting new menu items

TOP TEN MENU is a name that sets expectations. It mostly delivers. The Baja fish tacos are the reason to visit. Crisp, light, and properly sauced. The cheeseburger? Surprisingly good. I ordered it out of spite. I left converted. The family running the place treats you like a neighbor. Fast, friendly, no fuss. The menu has new items I hadn't seen before. I tried one. It worked. Nothing here is fancy. It's honest food. That's enough for me. I'll be there again, probably for the fish tacos. Maybe the burger too.

Outstanding customer service

Taqueria La Bonita is the kind of place where you order too much because the menu is endless. I did. No regrets. The shrimp guacamole is the star. Creamy, bright, with a kick. The fish tacos are fresh, not greasy. The space is clean. Not just clean. Spotless. That matters more than I like to admit. Service was outstanding. People actually smiled. I asked for extra lime. They brought three. That's the kind of attention that keeps me coming back. My only issue? I couldn't try everything. Next time. There will be a next time.

Mariscos El Chilito #6 is where portion control goes to die. I ordered a burrito. It was a monster. Not a metaphor. A literal beast. I ate half. I felt shame. The shame tasted good. Tacos are fairly priced, which is rare these days. Service was excellent. The staff didn't judge my leftovers. The place feels family-friendly. Kids were happy. I was full. That's a win. The portions are guaranteed generous. They didn't lie. I'll come back when I'm truly hungry. Maybe I'll skip breakfast that day. Maybe not. I'll take the chance.

Great value, worth repeat visits

El Tazumal Pupuseria is a lesson in value. I ordered pupusas. They arrived warm, thick, and stuffed. The fillings were generous. The price was fair. Honestly, too fair. I felt like I was stealing. The service was friendly. The vibe is casual, almost bare. That's fine. The food does the talking. My first bite was pure comfort. The masa was soft. The cheese pulled in long strands. I went back the next week. Same thing. Same joy. This is not a fancy place. It doesn't need to be. It just needs to be consistent. It is. Worth every repeat visit.

La Michoacana Nieves Y Mas is my kind of chaos. The selection is huge. I mean, overwhelming. I stood there too long. The mango raspado saved me. Cold, sweet, with actual mango chunks. The nachos were crispy. Not soggy. That's a miracle. The aguas frescas were fresh. I could taste the fruit. Prices are fair. My wallet didn't cry. But the real joy is the variety. Paletas, ice cream, shaved ice. It's like a candy store for adults. I left with a stomach ache. Worth it. I'll do it again. Maybe with a smaller order. Probably not.

Nelly's Mexican Food is clean. I mean, spotless. The dining room feels welcoming, not sterile. The chili verde burrito was fresh. The pork was tender. The green sauce had a gentle heat. The house-made chips and salsa arrived fast. The salsa had a smoky note. I liked that. Service was quick and friendly. The portions were generous. The price was right. I felt like I got more than I paid for. That doesn't happen often. The burrito was so good I forgot to add hot sauce. That says a lot. I'll be back. I'm already thinking about it.

Outstanding customer service from the cashier, who was attentive and handled multiple tasks with ease.
Generous portion sizes, especially the thick-cut fries, which made the meal feel substantial.
The horchata and cucumber house blend were refreshing standouts, both surprisingly flavorful.
Comfortable, homey atmosphere with arcade games that added a casual, fun touch.
Affordable value overall, despite a single complaint about pricing—the free refills helped.

RC Burgers is not a Mexican restaurant. I should know. I went for the horchata. It was excellent. The cucumber house blend was even better. Refreshing, unexpected. The cashier handled my order and three others with calm. Impressive. The fries were thick-cut and plentiful. The burger was fine. But the real surprise was the atmosphere. Arcade games. Comfortable chairs. I felt at home. The refills were free. That fixed my only complaint about pricing. I left full and happy. It's a weird find in a taco search. But I'm not complaining. I found a new spot.

Los Compadres is a place that understands tradition. The portions are huge. The flavors are consistent. I ordered seafood. It was fresh. No smell. No hesitation. The classic Mexican plates were just as solid. The staff treated me like family. Not in a fake way. In a real way. Cold beers arrived fast. The place fills up on game days. I can see why. The price feels high at first. Then you see the plate. Then you take a bite. It makes sense. I left satisfied. I left full. I left planning my next visit. That's the mark of a good restaurant.

OverallSolid choice for a satisfying Mexican lunch.

Taco Factory Norwalk is loud. At noon, it's a roar. I got my food fast anyway. That's impressive. The tortillas were fresh. The meat was tender. Flavorful without being salty. Portions were generous for lunch. I almost didn't finish. The atmosphere is lively. Not relaxing. But that's part of it. Service moved quickly. No waiting. My one issue? Water costs extra. Bottled water. That caught me off guard. I paid. I moved on. The meal was satisfying. Solid. I'd come back. I'd just bring my own water next time. Maybe not. The tacos might be worth it.

La Cocina De Nely Preciado makes tortillas daily. I saw them. The open kitchen lets you watch. That's transparency. I liked that. The menu prices are affordable. Almost too affordable. The portions are huge. I ordered one plate. I left with enough for two. The space is clean. Hygienic. No sticky tables. The tortillas were warm. Soft. Perfect. The food was simple. Honest. Nothing fancy. That's the appeal. I stuffed myself. I took a box home. I felt like I won. I'll be back. Maybe with a bigger appetite. Or a smaller one. Either way, I'll eat well.
